As you look at your goals for 2013, consider offering a child the invaluable gift of friendship by volunteering at Big Brothers Big Sisters. January is National Mentoring Month, making it the perfect time to consider taking the first steps toward building a trusting and enduring relationship with one of our Littles.
The support and encouragement you can give a child as a Big Brother or Big Sister can inspire and transform. During National Mentoring Month and all year long Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Missouri reflects on the power of the mentoring relationship. And we are so thankful for the many volunteers – more than 2,500 last year alone – who have shared their time with a child. Our Big Brothers and Big Sisters enthusiastically say this is time well spent!
“Jada has really helped me keep in touch with the playful and fun side of myself that can get lost in the busy rush of life with family and career” shares Big Sister Corinne Taff, chairperson of the Department of Interdisciplinary Studies and Professor at Fontbonne University. “Our lives have become so intertwined,” Taff adds.
Big Brothers Big Sisters currently has more than 1,000 children waiting for someone to Be Theresm for them in the new year - and beyond!
